My name is Emma Jackson. I am 16 years old and currently in 5th year at Strathaven Academy where I will be shortly sitting 5 highers. I feel very honoured to have been chosen as this year's Gala Queen as it is something I have dreamt about from a young age.
I live on a farm just outside Strathaven where I have stayed all my life. I have one older sister, Shona, who is currently studying dentistry at Dundee University.
Outwith school, I enjoy cooking, and was the Regional Finalist in the 2007 Future Chef Competition. I also enjoy playing football, horseriding, and curling when I have the time. I have a part-time job in Taylors, which is also great fun and I enjoy spending time socialising with my friends.
I am very excited to be Gala Queen 2008 and I am really looking forward to Gala Day.
My name is Robin Scott. I am 17 years old and in 6th year at Strathaven Academy. I am very proud ot have been picked as queen Emma's Champion for Gala Day 2008.
I am a Prefect and Buddy and am a member of the Young Enterprise Group at School. I am hoping to go to college in Glasgow to do Business Studies. One of my interests is bowls and I am a memeber at Strathaven Bowling Club and also Lanarkshire Indoor.
I wish my Gala Queen Emma good luck and I'm sure we will both enjoy our day.
It was such an honour and a joy to have been Gala Queen last year. It was such a fantastic day and I enjoyed every minute of it. My year as Gala Queen has been incredibly fulfilling and it has been a wonderful experience that I will treasure forever.
I would like to thank everyone who helped to make Gala Day so special, and John for being my Champion. I was proud to share the day with him. I would like to wish Emma and Robin all the best for an enjoyable and happy Gala Day 2008.
